 Comments: In the five minutes or so that I've been here, the flood of memories overwhelms, leaving me yet to form any conclusive or even semi-conclusive comment.

I'd say my happiest recollection is of Herbert's advocacy of the Great Refusal (uppercase G and R!), which, as I recollect, was most fully addressed in One Dimensional Man, among the several of his works that I read oh so very long ago.
